There are two things that really stuck out to me this week. First being your character. Your character traits say so much as about you as a person and as an entrepreneur. If you do what you say when you say you are going to do it, people will trust you. That goes the same for yourself, if you tell yourself you are going to workout Monday but Monday comes and no workout was done, what’s to say it won’t happen again? The fact is that staying true to your word makes you reliable to not only yourself and others, which can be very helpful in the world of business. It also makes you more determined and more careful about your words. If you tell someone you will complete a favor for them and you know you are true to your word, well now it has to be done. Which intern makes you be more carful about what you say or promise.
Another thing that really stuck out to me was how a startup business doesn’t have to be perfect. The article in this week’s readings explained how most businesses that spend most of their time trying to perfect their business do not see very much growth, or miss their entire shot entirely. The business world is ever changing and fast moving, to be successful you need to adapt and create quickly and methodically. Spending weeks writing up the perfect plan for a new business venture may look good on paper but time is money, and using too much of it means you may have missed your shot or on the other hand burned yourself out from managing the start up process for too long, making you less motivated to try again. What I took away from it is, take your shot, do not hesitate. Your plan does not have to be perfect to be proactive on, if you have 99 missed business ventures but number 100 is successful, you will be glad you stuck to it and tried and tried again.
