W05 Reflection: Entrepreneurial Journal

One thing I learned this week was the slow and steady approach in business. A lot of the times as we have ideas or start businesses we imagine immediate funds and immediate success, that is just unrealistic. Entrepreneurship comes with highs and lows, and a lot of challenges. One of the best traits you can acquire as an entrepreneur is determination. Not motivation, not only working when things are going well, but when it counts. Many businesses start with rough patches, WD-40 for example. WD-40 had 39 fails before having success with their 40th model. Just like this business and many others we most likely have challenges with starting out, or even well into the business. Thats not important, because we should be expecting that. What’s important is your actions afterwards. Are you going to stick through it and try harder? Try a different approach? Thats what sets apart the successful people from the non successful, those who don’t take no for an answer, those who try harder after every fall.

You do not have to go slow and steady but move forward with determination, don’t let set backs bring you down, try and try again.

What I also liked about today’s readings was how making your business something you care about, something you enjoy, makes a difference. When you enjoy what you do and have something you genuinely care about, it can help you to put more effort in what you do. Loving the life you live is an underestimated character trait in business. When you truly have something you’re excited about and love to do, things can become easier and more fulfilling.
